Arenera del Litoral is a family-owned business with over 30 years of experience extracting and selling river sand and stone for construction. I proposed directly to the owner a modernization of their online presence and strategic changes to help the company grow and attract more customers in a competitive and challenging economic environment. This included conducting quick user and competitive research to understand pain points and deliver a more accurate solution—avoiding assumptions and helping them to know their customers better.

What if finding strategic insights was as easy as reading a chart?

THE CHALLENGE

Spotify provides little visibility into how playlists perform and evolve, making it difficult for artists, managers, and labels to track success or discover trendy curators, specially using the current tools in the market. The challenge was to design a platform that makes this hidden data accessible and understandable—turning abstract playlist analytics into a clear, engaging, and user-friendly experience.

THE PROBLEM

TOO MUCH DATA

Existing tools show all the data they have—without explaining what’s actually important. This overwhelms users and makes it hard to understand how a playlist is really performing.

POOR UX & HARD TO USE

The majority of existing services present information in clunky, outdated interfaces. Their weak visual hierarchy and confusing UX make it hard for users to engage, explore, or draw insights with confidence.

Insights are hidden

Spotify playlists are a key growth channel in the music industry—but understanding their impact and potential is far from intuitive. Without accessible, actionable tools, users miss opportunities to connect with audiences and optimize their reach.

THE SOLUTION

Playlistcheck is a responsive web platform that brings together essential playlist data in a clean, easy-to-read dashboard. A modular card system gives structure to the interface, allowing information to be displayed with clarity, hierarchy, and flexibility.

Built with both usability and scalability in mind, the design simplifies complexity without compromising depth—making the experience smooth for users and efficient for development.

PLAYLIST OVERVIEW

A structured top section presents the playlist’s essentials—type, genres, duration, save count. By organizing key facts upfront, the layout sets the foundation for deeper analysis, reducing cognitive load from the start.

Performance Dashboard

Modular data cards visualize critical performance metrics: follower trends, popularity, update activity, and freshness. Color-coded highlights and strong hierarchy allow fast comparison and instant assessment of playlist health.

EXPANDABLE METRICS

Select data cards include an info icon that reveals additional layers—like follower demographics or engagement context—without disrupting the main layout. This approach maintains a clean interface while allowing deeper insight where it’s most relevant.

Playlist DNA & Behind the Scenes

A radar chart translates sonic traits into a visual fingerprint: danceability, energy, and mood, mapped at a glance. Beneath, featured artists, collaborators, and labels round out the picture, connecting data to real-world influence.

A radar chart gives a quick, visual snapshot of the playlist’s audio traits – like danceability, energy, and mood. Users can also explore featured artists, collaborators, and labels, creating a fuller picture of the playlist’s musical DNA.

DESIGN PRINCIPLES

WHAT I'VE LEARNED

Collaboration – Collaborating at Songstats was a rewarding experience. I gained hands-on exposure to data analytics and worked closely with the CEO to balance design quality with time constraints—helping streamline the process for the development team.

Adaptability – As a UX/UI designer, I initially felt overwhelmed by the volume of information. But through research, infographics exploration, and competitor analysis, I was able to turn that complexity into clarity—making the data more accessible and engaging.

Iteration – Finding the right design direction involved several iterations and thoughtful conversations. It was a challenge to align with stakeholder expectations while defending strong design choices—but it taught me a lot about communication, flexibility, and confidence in the process.
